Welcome to Room 31's blog
Welcome back and General Class Information
Welcome back to a new school year. I hope you’ve had a happy and relaxing time with your family and friends. I’m looking forward to creating new memories together in the year ahead.
What a first week we have all had. All students have made a fantastic start and the signs are good for a very successful year ahead.
Room 31 is a class of Year 4 and Year 5 students. Each member of our class has their own unique set of skills, strengths and challenges. We value and respect each others' differences and support and encourage our classmates. Everyone has something special to offer.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you as Room 31 parents for 2018
Please take a few minutes each day to let your child tell you about Room 31 and how we work. There may be a few concerns about class expectations and procedures. These usually disappear after the first few weeks.
All students have been given equipment to use in the classroom. This equipment will stay in their pouch and any other pencil cases they have can be kept at home for homework tasks.
I encourage students to have water bottles in the classroom. Raw fruit, vegetable snacks and cheese are also encouraged for brain break eating throughout the day. A reminder to ensure that students have their school hat, drink bottle and lunchbox labelled.
Please remember that we are a ‘Nut Aware’ school and nuts are not permitted. We do have children in this class with nut allergies so please be vigilant.
Thanks to the parents who have already sent a box of tissues to school. We would appreciate each family donating a box of tissues for class use.
We will cover Homework, Curriculum & Behaviour Management expectations and any other class information at the Acquaintance Night on Tuesday 13 February 2018.
This year most communication will be through Google+ and/or Class Dojo rather than using a diary. Please make sure you have an ardps account, have joined the Ardtornish community and followed me. If you need to write to me please do so in the diary or via email. Confidential notes will need to be in a sealed envelope.
We hope that all families will be able to access and participate in the class online Hub and be an active member of the Ardtornish Google Community. We have found this to be a very successful communication tool especially when parents can access the information via their phone.

School site - http://www.ardtornps.sa.edu.au/
This site will be used to provide the Room 31 Term Overview. Room 31 are so excited to be sharing our school experiences with the people we love at home.
I will also be looking for parent volunteers to help within the classroom for various tasks throughout the term. To be able to assist in the classroom you need to have been trained in your role. Please check at the office for new training dates.
Children arriving late to school need to enter via the front office to sign in. They will be issued with a sign in slip which must be presented to the class teacher. Parents collecting their children early must also enter via the front office to sign out and receive a sign out slip to present to the class teacher. It's essential that students arrive at school on time, our school day starts at 8.50 am. This is important for students to receive important daily news, put in lunch orders, return library books, banking and for the roll to be completed accurately. This will ensure that we can start our lessons on time.
If you have any questions please feel free to speak to me and I will do my best to answer or clear up any queries as best I can. Always remember - There is no such thing as a silly question.
I hope the start of the school year is a happy one for you and your child, and I cannot wait to get to know you all in time.
I look forward to working with you this year.

Contact
If you would like to arrange a meeting time or simply have a question, email is the best form of contact for me. I am happy to make appointments before and after school to fit your schedule - mornings can be very hectic in Room 31 trying to organise everyone and as the bell rings my full attention needs to be with the children. I do encourage that if you have any concerns, please let me know as I will do my best to help in any given situation. And remember - there is no such thing as a silly question! If you have any queries or concerns, please contact me via email on [email protected] or [email protected] |
